This book originated as a response to a question from a man struck by a severe calamity, who found himself in a state of dire need. He realised that if he did not rid himself of this affliction, it would ruin him in both this life and the Hereafter. Despite his efforts to free himself from it, the trial only grew in severity and intensity.
Ibn al-Qayyim, with deep insight, diagnosed his condition and understood the plea hidden within the question. He then offered a detailed and fitting answer—one that has proven relevant and beneficial across all times and places.
The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said: “When you indulge in al-‘inah (interest) transactions and take hold of the tails of cows and become satisfied with cultivation and abandon striving in His Way, then Allah shall permit your humiliation and He will not lift it from you, until you return back to your religion.” Abu Dawud # 3455
He (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: “The people will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their dish.” Someone asked: “Will that be because of our small numbers at that time?” He replied: “No, you will be numerous at that time; but you will be like the scum carried down by a torrent, and Allah will take fear of you from the breasts of your enemy and place wahn into your hearts.” Someone asked: “O Messenger of Allah, what is wahn?” He replied: “Love of the world and hatred for death.” Abu Dawud # 4297
It is abundantly clear that the Muslims have been afflicted with great trials, their unity has been shattered, their strength has been exhausted and their ranks scattered. Today we are living in an age when the Muslims have reached a limit worse than which, no Muslim who believes in Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) could reach and it is one of humiliation and subjugation by others. Due to this and the sense of that humiliation which sadly reigns over all Muslim countries regardless of class or station we continually ask ourselves in our private and public gatherings and counsels: What is the cause that has led the Muslims to this lowly and despicable state and this humiliating and shameful condition? And what is the underlying reason for their arrival at this low level of debasement and wretchedness?
The Sheikh may Allah have mercy on him, discuss some of the important issues that caused the downfall of Muslims and its solutions in the light of the Qur’an and Sunnah. This book before you is very unique and contains very beneficial knowledge that will aid the Muslims in realising the problems within the Ummah and the need to return back to which will bring about success in this life and the next. It contains two treaties of the Sheikh dealing with this important subject that is often over looked.
Allah, the Most High has said: “This nation is the best raised for mankind. It enjoins good and forbids evil” (3:110) O Muslims realise your protentional, return to the truth, return to the Book and the Sunnah, and Allah will give you strength and honour!

“The Explanation of An-Nawawi’s Hadith” delves into the renowned collection of forty hadith compiled by Imam Yahya ibn Sharaf An-Nawawi. These hadith are considered foundational teachings of Islam, offering profound insights into faith, worship, ethics, and social conduct. Each hadith is meticulously explained to highlight its significance, context, and practical applications in daily life.
The explanations help readers understand the deeper meanings and wisdom behind the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) sayings, making them accessible and relevant for contemporary Muslims. This book serves as an essential resource for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of Islamic teachings and implement them in their lives.
This book is a compilation of four books which deal with the lives and works of the four imams who founded the four great canonical schools of thought of Islamic fiqh. The book was originally written in Arabic by the great Egyptian scholar and theologian Muhammad Abu Zahra and is presented in English for the first time.
In this book, there is a comprehensive, in depth analysis of the four Sunni madhabs and their founders, giving details of their biography and the methods they used in reaching their legal conclusions. This is particularly important in the world today when many thousands of Muslims find themselves in a situation where there is not enough knowledge and therefore, no traditional allegiance to a particular madhab. As a result of this ignorance, there is also a great deal of futile disagreements amongst the Muslims.
This work therefore has been long overdue in the English language and will be a milestone in bridging the gap amongst the Muslims and uniting them. It makes a stimulating and enriching read for all who are interested in deepening their knowledge of Islam.
The Fundamentals of Tawheed covers the very basis of the religion of Islam, the belief in the oneness of Allah. This text is unique in that it covers many of the essential points of belief that every Muslim should be aware of.
The author has also dealt with some of the obnoxious practices and superstitions that the ‘Muslims’ of today have fallen into such as fortune-telling, grave worship and good luck charms. The uniqueness of this work lies not only in its thorough treatment of the subject in a fluid and uncomplicated style but also in its modern presentation of classical theological issues.

This Dictionary of Modern Written Arabic (fourth edition) has been enlarged and amended with 13,000 new entries. It is the only authorized paperback edition of the famous Hans Wehr Arabic-English Dictionary, edited by J. Milton Cowan. This new edition has thousands of new entries include numerous additions and corrections to the material and presents the results in a single handsome volume.
The author provides a useful introduction in which he discusses, clearly and precisely, the present state of the Arabic language. He points out the situations in which written and spoken varieties of Arabic are used, and remarks on the forces that influenced the development of the lexicon of Modern Arabic.
He discusses both the purist movement with its normative tradition, and what might be called the laissez-faire actual usage of writers and journalists under the influence of Western modes of expression, of their everyday colloquial, or both. He then moves on to the problem of local terminology, especially for public institutions, offices, administrative matters, titles, and foods. Although such terms are included for most of the Arab countries, the list is not complete, as indeed the author recognizes (viii); readers of Arabic material characterized by a distinct regional colouring are advised to refer to dialect dictionaries and glossaries.
