Description
Recognizing the urgent need for Islamic Studies material in English for schools, Darussalam has developed a comprehensive series that spans from Grade One through Grade Twelve. This series covers all key areas of Islamic knowledge, including tafsīr (Qur’anic interpretation), ḥadīth (Prophetic sayings), tawḥīd (monotheism), fiqh (jurisprudence), sīrah (the Prophet’s biography), and general Islamic etiquette applicable to various situations.
Given the importance of authentic knowledge, every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the material. To preserve the richness of Islamic terminology, most Arabic terms are presented in their original script, accompanied by transliteration and translation. This also applies to essential supplications, which students are encouraged to memorize in Arabic, alongside understanding their meanings.
Each lesson concludes with exercises designed to review the material and reinforce comprehension. A striking feature of the series is its colorful artwork, thoughtfully included to capture children’s attention, stimulate curiosity, and make learning both enjoyable and educational.
The overarching aim of this series is to familiarize students with Islam’s teachings in every dimension—beliefs, practices, and moral conduct. With its unique features, it fills a long-standing gap in Islamic educational resources.
This impressive project was initiated by Maulvi Abdul Aziz, M.A. in English Literature, an experienced educator who has held various positions in the field of education, including serving as Senior Administrative Officer in the Department of Private Education, Ministry of Education, Dubai, UAE (1982–2002).
