In the Qur’an, He says:“And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, keeping the religion pure for Him, being upright, and to establish prayer and give zakah. That is the true religion.” (98:5) True worship, however, is not possible without knowledge. This concise work presents the essential knowledge every Muslim must acquire. Rooted in the methodology of traditional Sunni Islam according to the Shafi‘i school of law, it is designed to help believers ensure their worship is valid, sound, and correct—all within a short time.

Al-Shafiis Risala- Treaties on the Foundation of Islamic Jurisprudence

    10 in stock

Written in the second Islamic century by al-Imam al-Shafi’i (d. 204AH/820AD), the founder of one of the four Sunni schools of law. This important work gives the fundamental principles of Islamic jurisprudence and its influence continues to the present day. During the early years of the spread of Islam, the exponents of Islamic legal doctrine were faced with the problems raised by ruling and administering a diverse and rapidly growing empire. In Medina and Kufa, as well as other cities of early Muslim rule, schools of law had to be developed, but it took the genius of Muhammad b. Idris al-Shafi’i, born in the year 150AH/767AD, to establish the principles by which the various legal doctrines could be synthesised into a coherent system. In the Risala, which laid down the basis for such a synthesis, al-Shafi’i established the overriding authority, next only to the Qur’an, of the Sunna or example of the Prophet Muhammad as transmitted in the traditions.

The Seekers' Aid in Upholding The Religious Duties

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Islam is built upon five [pillars]: testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing prayer, paying zakāt, performing ḥajj to the Sacred House, and fasting in Ramaḍān” (narrated by al-Bukhārī and Muslim). This concise treatise outlines each of these five pillars with the clarity and detail necessary for correct understanding and proper practice. Its author, Shaykh ʿAbd al-Ghanī al-Ghunaymī al-Maydānī (d. 1298 AH / 1880–81 CE), was a renowned Damascene scholar who memorized the Qur’an in his youth and studied with the leading scholars of his time. Distinguished not only for his deep expertise in Islamic law but also for his piety and devotion, he is best remembered for his widely acclaimed commentary on the Ḥanafī legal classic Mukhtaṣar al-Qudūrī, known simply as al-Lubāb.

Usul ash-Shashi- Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence

How is one to wade through the apparent welter of irreconcilable primary Islamic sources? What is one to do when faced with opposing practices of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) on the same issue? When is a practice deemed necessary or recommended? These are some of the topics discussed in usul al-fiqh. Loosely translated as principles of Islamic jurisprudence, usul al-fiqh is the legal theory which underpins Islamic positive law and practical ethics. The book Usul ash-Shashi is an isagogic opuscule on legal theory according to the Hanafi School of Law. It is widely favoured and accepted in the darse niazmi syllabus of South Asian seminaries and their sister institutions outside of the Asian Subcontinent despite little being known of its author. Mukhtasar Al-Quduri- An Explanatory Translation- Hardback

Perhaps the most well-known work of Imām al-Qudūrī, Al-Mukhtaṣar—also referred to simply as al-Kitāb—is a cornerstone text in Ḥanafī jurisprudence. It addresses around 12,500 issues, covering the full range of Fiqh, including not only acts of worship, but also business transactions, personal relations, and judicial and penal matters. Abū ʿAlī al-Shāshī remarked about the book:“Whoever memorizes this book is the most accomplished of our companions in memorization, and whoever understands it is the most accomplished of our companions in understanding.” As is typical with concise manuals of Fiqh, Al-Mukhtaṣar does not usually present evidences or the reasoning behind rulings. These foundations and derivations can be explored in the more advanced works of the madhhab, and they presuppose some familiarity with uṣūl al-fiqh. This edition offers a clear and accessible English translation of Mukhtaṣar al-Qudūrī, serving as a practical guide for students of knowledge and a gateway to deeper study.
